The White Horse unit of the 20 th Division has recently designated experienced 'counselors' for overseein g pre-existing relationship of the enlisted and has implemented a Relationship Management System for Couples . The role of Relationship Counselor and Relationship Management System is to help the enlisted and his "Gomshin" on keeping their relationship healthy until discharge. "Gomshin" is a shortened form of "Gomushin," an old fashioned rubber shoes, which refers to a fiancée left behind in the society.

Outstanding soldiers with exemplary relationship track record are appointed as Relationship Counselors whose role is to guide the enlisted through what may develop into a rocky relationship while being separated during his military duty. And if a counselor feels that the situation may be over his head, all the counselors in the battalion gather their heads to discuss the issue to derive the best suggestion and offer it to the enlisted. Each counselor receives a workshop from the Brigade Chaplin Officer before filling their roles in the 'front line.' The White Horse unit has appointed 4 counselors, mainly E-3 in their rank, per Company.

And the counselors in the 'front line' are armed with Relationship Management System for Couples . The system creates a database of the enlisted with his fiancée, and each counselor tracks the progress in their relationship. By quantifying the progress, counselors can readily detect any significant changes and initiate a pre-emptive counseling, thereby virtually eliminating the 'blind spots' in their management.

"Love Line" truly reflects the idea that drove Relationship Management forward. The Love Line is a receive-only telephone line installed at the guard posts. Even when a phone call comes through during the shut-eye hours, the guards immediately notifies the enlisted, so that the love birds could talk to each other when needed.
